Meet the Staff

Rev. Peter Hawkinson, Senior Pastor

It has been my joy to serve here at Winnetka Covenant Church since the spring of 2001. Previously I have served Covenant Churches in Seattle and Minneapolis. I am a Chicago native, and a graduate of Covenant Bible College, the University of North Dakota, and North Park Theological Seminary. I enjoy books (especially historical fiction), music, sports, and coffee. My wife Bonnie and I are parents to Hannah, Sarah, and Kristina, who fill our lives with laughter.

I am invigorated by the work of ministry in the local Church context. I enjoy the relationships we share together as staff and congregation, and the constant re-visioning process that's at the heart of mutual ministry. I love to worship God in the context of this community of friends. I am blessed in the call from God to preach and pastor.

And I believe that the days ahead will be full of new opportunities for us to engage the life of discipleship and the call to reach out with the love of Christ in our community. These will be our priorities moving ahead. We seek to be an authentic spiritual community of growing Christians who witness to the Grace of God in Jesus. I hope you might join us on this journey.
